Bartlett Lake:  A mere 45 minutes from downtown Phoenix can produce large numbers of largemouth. This lake is on it’s way to become a year round hotspot.  It is 22 miles east of Carefree. Upper Bartlett Lake, Rattlesnake and South Cove recreation sites provide areas for camping with trailers, picnicking, fishing and boating and are open year-round.  More....

 

Canyon Lake:  Canyon Lake is the third in a chain of four lakes created by damming up the flow of the river. Two others, Apache Lake and Roosevelt Lake are upstream. The fourth is Saguaro Lake downstream.   More....

 

Lake Pleasant:  Located 15 miles west of I-17 (Black Canyon Freeway) on Carefree Highway (State Route 74) 30 miles north of Phoenix, within the city limits of Peoria. Roosevelt Lake:  Theodore Roosevelt Lake was formed by the construction of a masonry dam on the Salt River in 1911, making it the oldest artificial reservoir in Arizona. About 10 miles of the original river are now beneath the waters, and in the other direction one of its major tributaries, Tonto Creek, is flooded for about 8 miles although the lake level and hence the overall length is quite variable. It is a major center for Largemouth and Smallmouth fishing.   More....

 

Saguaro Lake:  The fourth from the top and the final lake in the Salt River chain of lakes in Central Arizona. Saguaro Lake is located approximately 40 miles to the northeast of central Phoenix. The Stewart Mountain Dam, completed in 1930, holds the waters of Saguaro Lake. The Mormon Flat Dam is the lake’s upstream boundary.   More....
